ENJOYMENT: The coaches will play, teach, and train with kids to enjoy soccer. The methods are age-appropriate and are simplified to make sure every child walks away with some basic skills to use and build upon. But really, it's about having fun.
GUIDANCE: The coaches will infuse small simple lessons with a focus on overall wellness, nutrition (including sleep, recovery), the importance of exercise (instead of video games, electronics), working hard in school, and creating goals for oneself.
Lessons are modified to suit the children's ages, background, etc.
PATHWAY: Should a kid want to play more soccer and is unable to because of financial or geographical reasons, Steve will provide advice to the guardians on how FSS can help make this happen.
In the end, we want kids to have a positive experience. This isn't about winning, or forcing soccer upon them. It's about providing access to this fast-growing, worldly sport and utilizing it as an inspirational tool to help children believe in themselves through small achievements. To dream, go further, and aim higher.
We want to help all kids get a shot on goals...

Programs run for 8 weeks in the fall and spring, for 1+ hours/session.
At the end of the soccer year, a casual playday gathers all of the program sites together for one large celebration. SEE OUR VERY FIRST EVENT!
Nothing inspires and helps guide a a person more than a respected mentor... someone who has walked the path or had similar experiences with which to recount triumphs as well as failures, to provide advice, or just share a laugh.
We started our Ambassador program to not only provide role models for our kids, but promote our program, and create awareness around the pay-to-play issue in soccer.
Our Ambassadors are local, accomplished, and always striving to be the best. We want to instill in our kids that everything they want to achieve is in their grasp if they believe in themselves and work hard.
Alanna Rachal Speaks
"I was born in Dover, DE and am the proud daughter of Nathaniel and Sherwanda Speaks. I’m a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware. I attend Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington, DE. A few of my hobbies include listening to music, shopping, spending time with family and friends and traveling.
As a Freshman, I am an Honor Roll student and am a student-athlete matriculating in Criminal Justice --
my future aspiration is to become a fraud investigator. I’m a member of the Lady Lighting Soccer and Basketball team, am the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference 2017 Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Year, and am the 2017 Women’s Soccer First Team recipient.
I’ve always been a proponent of giving back to the community. Being an Ambassador for FSS will afford me the opportunity to do just that. I look forward to working with Delaware’s youth and making a positive impact in their lives along with being a great role model."
From Bear, DE, Mark was our first Ambassador we approached. Reason is, our Executive Director, Steve, knew Mark from local soccer club Delaware Rush where Mark played as a youth.
Mark, a Defender playing for the Philadelphia Union, has shown great success in his soccer career not only playing for Rush, and the Wilmington Rangers, but also the Philadelphia Union Academy, the Bethlehem Steel, Wake Forest
University, and the US National Teams.
And if you missed it, you can also catch a glimpse of him at our 2018
